A librarian is born!

By Meredith Farkas | May 14, 2005

I just want to wish a hearty congratulations to Dorothea Salo who just received her MLS today. So glad you made it through! Ever since I started reading her blog, Dorothea has inspired and challenged me with her insightful comments and consistent questioning of the conventional wisdom (about everything). If you don’t read her blog, Caveat Lector, you should. Dorothea is an enterprising, tech-savvy, passionate librarian with a low tolerance for excuses or B.S. from change averse libraries/librarians. Any library would be lucky to have someone like her working for them.

I hope one day I have the pleasure of meeting Dorothea, though I’m pretty sure we’ll all see more of her. She is a librarian who will certainly have a strong positive impact on this field.

    Amen to that Meredith!

I have had the pleasure of having dinner with her and other fellow bloggers at the ACRL bloggers dinner and also met her husband, David, at the Bloomington (IL) Public Library when he gave his talk on Languages of Middle-Earth. Wonderful people they are. And we will be hearing and seeing great things from Dorothea, no doubt!
