I'm hoping that someone else may take up the wiki mantle by the time ALA 2006 comes around (oh... maybe... ALA?). But if no one else is interested, I'd probably be willing to do it again. And if someone is, they're more than welcome to take the relevant info from this year's wiki.

I was just wondering whether you had thought about creating a wiki for ALA 2006? Hmm...that gives me an idea: a wiki just for conferences...

Meredith, Thanks for the ALA wiki. I used it (am still using) a lot. I am promoting it on my blog, especially the alphabetical list. I'll plug the new wiki soon. I see Aaron added a link to my blog to your new wiki under Reader's Advisory and it immediately started getting hits (several per day via your wiki). Thanks again. Rick

This is an excellent idea. I wish more people would start using wiki's to provide updates and share notes and thoughts coming out of conferences.

I added your ALA Wiki page to BlinkList, my personal and social bookmarking engine. I also have to agree with you that the bookmarking tools are fantastic for personal use and while they can also be fun and useful for discovering new sites, your idea for this wiki is great!

There is a big role for both, personal bookmarking, aggregating links, and then having a common wiki based page for sharing inforamation.

I have to note that I am the first to post the site to del.icio.us. Good thing, bad thing? In any case, I think it is a tremendous idea. Now I will start populating it with some of my perennial Bloglines "keep as new" posts--a storage system I will be happy to kiss good-bye. (Never could find what I wanted when I wanted it .)

I think I would like to help out with the public library perspective, or at least find others who will. It make take a little while, since I'm dealing with transition issues right now, but this is a long-term project, right?!?

Library Success: A Best Practices Wiki

Whoopa! We talked about it at the Bloggers' Roundtable at ALA, agreed it sounded like a great idea... and Meredith once again jumps right in there and makes it happen. Witness the launch of libsuccess.org, christened "Library Success: A Best

Hi Meredith,

This looks like fun and I will be sure to contribute. I just wanted to add my two cents worth to your excellent list of lessons learned. In addition to making sure that a wiki has a specific purpose, it is also helpful to have a specific group of users in mind who have some imperative to use the wiki. I think in your case the attention and interest that you have generated from the ALA wiki (not to mention your winning smile from the OCLC blogger salon pics :) will be enough to create involvement. But I think this is an important consideration for people starting out cold.
