Meredith,

I was particularly interested to read your perspective on Stephen Abram's response to Library 2.0 critics. I wrote a comment to that post on Stephen's blog some time ago that pretty much echoes what you've stated here. I find it interesting that a.) Stephen has not responded to my comment; and b.) noone else has responded or continued that thread, either. Not that I'm feeling dissed or anything ;-) Just that I've noticed that sometimes the two-way dialog suddenly becomes very one way, especially if/when there is any criticism or a different perspective expressed.

I wish you well in writing your book!

I'm going to be a little egotistical and assume that I am one of "the Michaels" who wrote about Library 2.0 on ALA's Techscource. I want thank you Meredith for noticing and saying something nice about it.

Podcasts are now on my list of "things to learn how to do" over the next month, and then to figure out how to make them useful and work in a public library setting.

Thanks Meredith!

"It’s a great way to empower young people and encourage their creativity."

Right on, Meredith.

In case anyone is interested, Linda Braun did a workshop this past week in San Antonio on teens and technology. Beth Gallaway provided an overview
with several links to teens using podcasts.

I've been following your blog for a few weeks and have been inspired by your posts about podcasts. I'm in the middle of planning the opening of a new branch library that will be located in a restored trolley depot and situated on the banks of the Erie Canal in western NY. The branch is in the center of the Village of Spencerport, and will cater to an audience of people who travel along the canal by boat and bike. I've been planning to offer iPods for borrowing but had been pretty much sticking to allowing music and recorded book downloads on them. Now, I'm going to try podcasts that will give people a tour of the Village and Town attractions, short history lessons on Spencerport and the Erie Canal, and who knows what else! Thanks for the inspiration!

thanks! Yeah, I've been getting a good deal of weird non-porn and non-drug spam, which is probably the first non-porn and non-drug spam I've ever seen!

I don't know a single blogger who hasn't had to step back from a fight at some point. I've done it multiple times. It's okay. Welcome back.

Yup. My mom-in-law is working on the lecture recording and distribution projects at the University of South Carolina. I just saw the Stanford one as it popped up on MacRumors the other day, and didn't want to ASS-U-ME you had seen them :)

Thanks for the kind wishes, Rick. Yeah, I have heard about Stanford on iTunes. Stanford isn't the only school whose lectures are on iTunes; they're just the most visible. It's really cool that students can download their lectures in the same place that they download music. A VERY good idea!

Speaking of education broadcasts, have you seen Stanford on iTunes yet? I wish they didn't use a specific product name in the title of the product (for much the same reason I dislike the term "podcast"), but it is a really neat idea.

Good luck with the book. Glad to hear that words have not been escaping you :)
