An important lesson for tech trainers

By Meredith Farkas | January 31, 2006

I know Michael Stephens and Jessamyn are good at teaching people about technology, but I really think they could learn a thing or two from StrongBad of the hilarious Internet cartoon Homestar Runner. Check out this scene where StrongBad offers an introduction to technology for middle school students. My favorite quote: “Robots are technology shaped like square people.” Brilliant!

Can you “speak technology” like StrongBad?

Working for a robotics firm, I like that quote as well as “Robots….are primarily used for destroying Japan and serving hors d’oeuvres”

Also, for more StrongBad on technology, see this one on how to create a web page – it’s a classic:

Come on, Dave, are you saying you don’t like giant Flash intros and rotating GIFs?

oops. Didn’t anticipate the non-wrap of that. My bad. Times like this when a preview would be helpful. … or smarter users.

…animated gifs, black backgrounds and comic sans serif font. Brings back fond memories of the web circa 1997….those were the days.

BTW – the best flash intro of all time:

From that StrongBad email comes this classic quote:
‘The Internet is a place where nothing happens. You need to take advantage of that’
