Westerville have been an innovator (pun intended) for many years. They get shown as a model at the IUG users group pretty regularly. They seem to have everything Innovative Interfaces, Inc. has to offer libraryland. They are the first to do some really cool things with it so it's always good to see what they've been up to lately. I'm not sure if it's just that III uses them to play and test new ideas or they just buy things first. Their vodcasts have been there a while. They are one to keep your eye on. gde

Meredith,

I can see why you're miffed at missing these great initiatives from your book.I wonder if there is any evidence in the areas you highlight to suggest whether or not kids take the likes of 'My Own Cafe' as seriously as, say, MySpace or any other big social networking sites? Do we know what level of interest and activity these superb local initiatives get?

I will be pointing a colleague of mine, Derek Robertson, towards your link to the Carvers Bay Gaming Program! We in Scotland are beginning to look seriously at the potential of gaming for education, either in the context of Glow, our developing national schools' intranet, which I currently lead (previously known as SSDN, Scottish Schools Digital Network), and Derek will be leading that work. We have a small but world-class computer gaming industry here in Scotland, and we are hoping to take on some joint ventures in this area in the future.
