I don't know if you follow Laura Blankenship (Geeky Mom)'s blog, but there's an odd correspondence between your views on Blackboard as opposed to Drupal and her recent post on <a href="http://geekymom.blogspot.com/2008/12/blackboard-as-part-of-military.html" rel="nofollow">Blackboard as part of the military-industrial complex</a>.
