Thank you for the shout-out as one of your mentors, but to me it is simply passing along the mentorship love that was given to me. So if I can participate in a chain of mentorship I think it helps me, it helps you, and it helps the profession as a whole. We need to foster young talent coming up through the ranks, of which you are a prime example. As for children and career, I agree with my friend and colleague Chrystie (another young talent since we're on the subject), that balance is a good thing. Maybe it's the people I hang out with, but no one I know regrets their decision to have children. It's hard to handle both a career and family, but it is also tremendously gratifying, and one part of your life can serve to prop you up when the other part of your life is going through hard times. You are clearly both articulate and intelligent as well as kind (sorry if I both flatter and make assumptions not justified on so short an online acquaintance; sometimes words give the illusion of a longer and deeper friendship (sorry to again be quite appalling presumptuous) than in fact exists. It was very encouraging for me to read your words, as I am myself reluctant to trust myself in unfamiliar circumstances.
