I’m back from Florida, but am probably about to fall asleep since I got up before 3 am to make my flight. I just consider myself lucky to have gotten here with relatively few problems in terms of air travel (though we did have a bird fly onto our plane as we were getting off — d’oh!).

While I was gone, the Library Journal Movers and Shakers for 2007 were announced. And my goodness! What an amazing group of people! What surprised me most was that so many friends and acquaintances were on the list! Though I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since I think the world of so many of these people.

Congratulations to everyone honored this year, but special congrats to Casey Bisson (whom I hope is not offended that I called him a mad scientist — seriously, I shouldn’t be quoted in anything!), Nicole Engard, Helene Blowers, Chrystie Hill, Michael Casey Emily Lynema, Janie Hermann, Amanda Etches-Johnson, Kelly Czarnecki, Ross Singer, Rachel Bridgewater, Katherine O’Clair and Brian Matthews. You all rock!

I was so touched to be honored by Library Journal for my contributions to the profession last year. It really made me feel like I was doing something right and definitely spurred me on to continue freeing the information with things like Five Weeks to a Social Library. I hope this will similarly spur all of you on to continue doing great things.
