Five Weeks to a Social Library Presenters

Friday is the deadline to submit a proposal to provide content for the Five Weeks to a Social Library course. While we have gotten a lot of proposals on certain topics, there are others on which we have not gotten any (or have gotten very few). If you have experience using or know a lot about any of the following topics and are interested in sharing your knowledge with other librarians, please consider submitting a proposal to do a Webcast, screencast or podcast for the course.

  • RSS
  • Wikis
  • Social networking software (MySpace, Facebook, Massively Multiplayer Online Virtual Worlds (Second Life, etc.))
  • Flickr

You can find submission instructions on the CFP. Please do let us know if you are flexible about the format in which you’re willing to present. Webcasts will be archived and all course materials will be made available to the general public.

I hope you will consider helping to make this groundbreaking online learning experience a success!

  1. I would love to do something about the experience I gained with the booklovers wiki, but am afraid to over-extend myself for the next few months due to my promotion at work. If I can get it together, I will try to put a proposal together by the end of the week. I can hardly wait to see the list of presentations as I am sure they will amazing.

Makes me wish I had more experience of Second Life to be able to do something on MMOs. My MMO experience is limited to games like World of Warcraft, Dark Age of Camelot, EverQuest, etc.

    Surely you jest?

Actually, it looks like two of the topics you listed are the ones I had been thinking about, so expect something from me.

  4. I was going to write a proposal, but…it’s been a busy week, and then this morning I realized that despite two years of grad school, I cannot for the life of me remember how to write a presentation abstract.

    Maybe next time…
