Cataloging Experience

ARCHIVIST

During my archival internship, I cataloged and described a raw collection of archival materials from Florida Atlantic University's historical collection. I designed a database and cataloged the materials based on FAU's archival standards. I also learned about Encoded Archival Description (EAD) and XML programming.

STUDENT

As a student, I took a cataloging course and learned the principles of information organization. I became familiar with using Library of Congress Subject Headings, the Dewey Decimal System, and AACR2, Dublin Core, and MARC metadata standards. In projects for this class, I practiced cataloging using MARC and Dublin Core.
