Technology Experience

LIBRARIAN

As a Library Assistant at the Boca Raton Public Library, I worked with the library's Dynix system and became proficient in using it. I also taught patrons to use the Internet, email, and word processing programs.

During my archival internship, I had the opportunity to design and populate a database in order to catalog a collection relating to the history of Florida Atlantic University. I also learned scanning techniques for historical photo collections.

WEB DESIGNER

My work for Wolf Bioscience involved conducting a usability study, helping to redesign their user interface and marketing sites, and designing online tutorials. The usability study involved an expert evaluation of the user interface as well as a task-based study using volunteer participants. I wrote up a report and presented my findings and suggestions to the President and Chief Programmer at Wolf Bioscience. I designed the online tutorials using Camtasia Studio. I have also designed a number of professional, academic and personal sites. I am experienced in using HTML, XHTML, CSS, and PHP. I also have some working knowledge of JAVA and XML. For multimedia design, I have proficiency using Flash, Fireworks, Photoshop, and Camtasia. I have an excellent understanding of the principles of usability and accessibility and have designed sites that meet both Bobby accessibility criteria and are validated XHTML compliant.

STUDENT

In my coursework, I have studied website design, website usability, website accessibility, web multimedia, website administration, search engine design, relational database design, database administration, and network setup and administration.
